Synopsis of my text
I am going to produce the titles and the opening of a thriller film. It will have a target audience of 16-50 year olds who are enthusiastic about thrilling and intense films. My product will be aimed at both males and females however more specifically females. I think this because the film is going to have a main character, which is a 25-year-old female and the film is in relation to her life and the bizarre things that happen to her. However this does not mean that some males will not enjoy the film. The film is going to start with a series of different shots of the main character doing everyday things such as making a sandwich, watching television and going to bed. However each activity has an unusual feel to it. Whilst she is making the sandwich she stares at the knife for a while. Also the television she is watching is showing a blank screen so she isn’t actually watching the television but she is in her mind. As the film progresses, the abnormality increases and more strange events start to happen as the character is introduced.

Extra notes for my actress

Equipment

Camera- I have got a handheld HD Kodak video camera. This is needed to capture the video. HD video cameras work best because they produce a good quality picture particularly when zoomed in or in dark locations. Handheld cameras also work well because this means you can take it with you anywhere and it can also reflect the realism in a film. Having a digital camera is an advantage because you can transfer the clips straight onto the computer and into an editing software program.

Microphone- Most cameras have microphones already internally installed in them. However, they do not necessarily provide high quality sound. An external microphone can reduce certain sounds such as traffic and wind. The dialogue or sound can be recorded separately from the real scene to produce high quality sound. The file can then be transferred onto the clip, which is synchronised with the mouth movement or action. Films use clapperboards to help mark the beginning of a scene.

Lighting/Sound
My film is a thriller so I need to consider that although darkness is vital and terrifying, I also need to ensure that everything that needs to be is visible. In my preliminary video I used a torch to capture important shots in the dark. Although, there was one or two shots that were too dark which made it unclear what was in the shot. I am going to use a torch again to film in dark places. For the opening of my film, I am going to use a music track and I will remove any background noises from filming outside. However, I am going to use sound effects such as footsteps and an alarm clock. Using sound effects will enhance the sound and add to the suspense if loud noises are used.

Mise-en-scene
Props are vital in films because they can create and atmosphere and add to the realism of the film. They can also reflect a characters personality or value. Props can range from small objects such as a set of keys to large objects that stand out such as a vehicle or a house. Some props are more vital to a film and if so they are usually shown in shot repeatedly so that the audience are aware of the object and its importance. In my film I will use several props. One is the clothes that the main character is going to wear. My main character is going to be dressed in her formal work clothes for the majority of my film. This reflects the characters ambition for work as she is seen either coming back from work or getting ready for work in the opening. My character will own an expensive white car, which is mysterious and abnormal because white cars are not as popular as other coloured cars.

Human Resources Planning

Editing Software- Editing software is needed once the video files are uploaded to the computer. There are many different video editing software programs available. Ranging from basic ones such as Windows moviemaker and the more expensive ones such as Final cut express. Expensive software is usually harder to use however they provide a larger variety of effects and features. I am going to be using Final Cut Express because it is the most appropriate. I think that it is most appropriate because it is easy to use and it has a variety of effects and features that I can use for my film.

Locations
My film is located mainly at a house. Fortunately, I can use my house to film which makes it really easy and I have access to it 24/7. Most of my film is situated at the characters house because it is a thriller about unusual things that happen to the character in her house. However, if the brief said to create a longer film I would use the characters work place and other locations that were important such as friend’s houses and the town.

Tripod- Tripods are useful because they help to keep a steady image and reduce wobble. A tripod also allows you to pan and tilt easily and steadily from a fixed axis. A tripod has 3 legs which can all be adjusted individually allowing you to produce different angles and levels whilst filming on a slanted or uneven surface.
Fortunately, I have a 22-year-old sister who took A level Drama and is interested in theatrical shows. Considering she is my sister, she is very reliable and she is available most of the time. I have close contact with her because she lives at home, making it extremely easy to get hold of her and to book when I can film with her. I am pleased with my actress because she is suitable for the genre of the film. I also think that because of her age, it adds to the realism of the film and it will look more sophisticated because she is an adult.
